If you can answer YES to any of the above then your horse is probably not being awkward but is probably in discomfort and in pain.
Equine Sports Massage Therapy is the application of massage techniques in order to increase health of the horse , performance, endurance, fitness, well-being & helps prevention and recovery of injury.
It will help to increase circulation and range of motion, relieve muscle spasm and tension and enhance muscle tone.
- Does he pull faces when you put his saddle on?
- Does he pull faces when you do his girth up or mount him?
- Does he buck when he is ridden?
- Does he struggle with a certain canter lead?
- Does he complain when you rug him up?
- Is he reluctant to go forward when you are riding him?
- Does he display discomfort when you first get on?
- Do you feel he could work just a little bit better?

Massage is used along with conventional and complementary health care as well as proper training techniques enabling the horse to perform at an optimum level. By itself, it does not attempt to cure anything.
By law, Equine Body Workers have to obtain veterinary permission and/or referral before working on a horse.
